Issues > Small Business Support.
Michael is the owner of a computer engineering services firm and also currently leads a nonprofit (www.metrobroward.org) that
specializes in assisting early stage companies with capital and technical assistance (mentoring and incubation). His thorough knowledge and expertise qualifies him to provide compassionate
guidance to start up companies and to serve as a legislative champion for their issues.
As a member of the Florida Consortium of Black Business Investment Corporations (eight members), Michael developed the marketing
tool that was the keystone of a bipartisan strategy to convince legislators to sponsor legislation that more than doubled the state's loan capital commitment to minority owned businesses. The
legislation was approved.
Michael will continue to champion this and other small business growth and development issues in the Florida Senate. It is
well documented that over 80% of businesses in Florida are classified as small businesses; and the increasing number of start up businesses in the state makes Michael an ideal champion for small
business growth.
