Michael believes that all children deserve an equal opportunity to develop as learners at the beginning of life -- and that
early learning success directly translates into stability for families and the economies of our respective communities and our state.
As a former member of the Broward County Early Learning Coalition, Michael was instrumental in focusing attention on the
importance of a quality early education for children and encouraged the Coalition to develop strategic linkages with corporate champions who rely on a sustainable pipeline of future
employees.
Michael serves on the Board of Family Central, an agency tasked with providing child care subsidies for lower wealth families; a
board that actively advocates for adequate funding to support the unmet needs of hundreds of families on the waiting list.
The increasing number of immigrant children in Florida demands a strategic plan to address their special needs in order to
effectively integrate the children and their families into local communities as contributors. As a member of the Board of Minority Development and Empowerment, Inc., Michael is on the front
lines to ensure that this agency (and others like it) retains its ability and capacity to provide for these special needs.
